sunday funday . . .

Best.Day.Ever!

This morning I woke up at 6:00, fed the cats, played on the internets and then went off to meet Jen at hot yoga. No Mom, hot yoga isn't, "some sort of sex thing?" I'm glad we've cleared that up!
*shudders at explaining hot yoga =/= sex yoga to mom*

I came home and found Matt ready for a day of errands! We got some yummers breakfast at Einstein Bro's. They have new "lighter" breakfast options and they were delicious! I got the egg white florentine wrap and and Matt got the egg white bagel sammie. YUMMERS!

Later it was off to Home Depot, Bed Bath and Beyond, Costco, and Home Depot again. We got the patio furniture we wanted and saved $172 bucks at Bed Bath and Beyond! Love clearance.

We came home and I cleaned the house while Matt cleaned the pool and set up the furniture. Then we spent hours playing away!!

Here we are contemplating just how bright the blue is against the green of the palm...

After pool time I made some kickass kabobs. Sorry for the language- there are no other words to describe the sheer awesomeness of dinner tonight. Now it's off for some Big Brother!! I'm so exited to see a show without Jessie (The man, the myth, the legend...*BAER!).

skimming . . .

You heard me right- not swimming (for once) but skimming!

Matt and I have a rule, he's in charge of the outside and I'm in charge of the inside. We help each other with chores in both areas but the person in charge gets the final say. It's working so far. Matt is away this week so I'm taking care of the outside chores. He misses pool. :-(

Today I came home and noticed that the pool was a little dirty. The bottom was fine but the top needed a good skimming. I reluctantly dragged myself off the couch and slipped on my flip flops to do the dreaded chore of the day.

Yeah- the dreaded chore- turns out not so bad. Therapeutic even! Who would have thought? Well I guess you might have thought that I'd like something like that. My temperament an obsessive nature would lend itself to enjoying skimming the muck, grass from the neighbors yard, unfortunate beetle, leaves, etc... off the top of crystal clear water. It is instant gratification! I love instant gratification!

I wish there was a way to skim the muck off of our beings at the end of the day. Maybe I need a mental exercise where I visualize the specs and remnants of the day being swept off of me with a giant skimmer net. . .

or

Maybe Matt needs to find a new job in the pool!

street food . . .

Friday night, new tradition, POOL PARTY!! There is nothing quite like sitting in your chill chair in the pool. . .

After a good hour or so of bumming around the pool we worked up quite the appetite. For the first time ever, I made street food- fried and everything (!!). You may remember when Matt went to Trinidad and Tobago at the beginning of June. He called me half way through the trip to RAVE about some random street food he ate, no- not souse *shudder*, but Doubles, (Bara with Curried Channa). He requested that I learn how to make it. He brought back a fabulous cookbook for me. You've seen a recipe or two on my blog from it before.

it.was.fabulous

Process:
Start the Bara (the dough has to rise)

Make the Channa

Pat the Bara into discs and fry:

Top the Bara with Channa and make little sandwiches!

Douse with hot sauce (optional)

YUMMERS!!

I hope that satisfies your Trini-food appetite for the day. Off to run- Beach running club day!! I can't wait to see everyone!!
