This word is used to describe many things in our lives. Opportunity is used in a positive way!
*sales voice*
Come in today for a once in a lifetime opportunity!
*teacher voice*
I'm going to give you the opportunity to change your behavior and show me
that you know the right thing to do/earn extra credit/redo an assignment...
*boss voice*
You have the opportunity to come in early, before school starts, to get your room ready!
*inner voice*
If I tell myself this is an opportunity instead of a challenge will that change the way I feel about it?
Words have such power. One 11 (eleven) letter word, albeit a long word, as the opportunity to change our mindset from . . .
I have to get all of this done this is so much work how will I ever get all of this done there aren't enough hours in a day to teach, clean, train for a marathon, fundraise for a marathon, have time with a husband, make time for friends, pet the cat, feed the cats, do laundry, sleep, cook, workout, blog, call mom, call cara, what will happen with all of my reality tv shows?will I still be able to indulge my crippling reality tv addiction?what is going . . . . ......................
inner chatter
To the much more powerful . . .I have an opportunity each day to live my best life. I have to opportunity to stretch myself in new ways each day. I have the opportunity to serve God and my neighbor, I have the opportunity to be a good spouse, good teacher, good daughter, good friend, and good cook (lol). I have the opportunity to be the best that I can be each day and the opportunity to acknowledge my strengths, work on my weakness, and be happy, grateful, and positive where I am.This post was my opportunity to remind myself that opportunities are just that...1. a favorable juncture of circumstanceand not a reason to start breathing into a paper bag.
:-)
ps: thank you moms (plural for my Mom, Mother-in Law, and cool "mom" translate "Aunt") for reading my blog enough that I would feel guilty for not posting something today. :-P
Love the "HALT" idea!
ReplyDeleteI love reading your blogs. Like I said, you have a way of putting things into words. I hope you take the "opportunity" to change the lives of several children this year. Love you, Mom
