When we moved into the Berra's Beach House we were so excited that we had palm trees. Of course you already know that based on my pina colada post over the weekend. The first time we officially had keys we put on our swimsuits and hopped in the pool. While in the pool we counted fifteen, yes 15 (!!!!!!) assorted palm trees in our backyard.
The thing about palm trees is that they sort of shed. The palm fronds get old and fall off. These fronds must be sawed down to pieces that fit in the big green trash can that you get from the county. So far that has only been a mild pain in the butt. I've only *almost* lost a finger twice, poked an eye out with a corner once, and gotten one frond in the can on the first try.
Yesterday, Matt and I came home and saw a palm frond from our front palm tree in the yard. It didn't look so bad. Matt asked me to take it into the garage where we would deal with it later as he finished up dealing with the pool chemicals. I went over to the frond and started dragging it to the garage. It wouldn't budge! I pulled again. Still- barely moved. I looked down and realized that this frond was the biggest thing I'd ever seen! I put it down and ran for the camera. When I came out of the house I saw this. . .
*jaw drops*
It's a good thing trash comes twice a week!
:-)
Holy Hannah that's a huge frond! Of course, I'm totally jealous you have palm trees. Totally. So tropical and fabulous!
